Defect
Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (Sumitomo) is recalling certain Falken WildPeak AT4W size 275/60R20 115T tires. The tires may have been produced using the incorrect cord material for one of the plies. The sidewall label incorrectly identifies the generic name of the cord material. As such, the affected tires do not meet the labeling requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, ÂNew pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles.Â
Consequence
Tires produced with the incorrect cord material can increase the risk of tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action
Dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 13, 2024. Owners may contact Sumitomo customer service at 1-877-763-0416.
