Defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain engine block heaters, with part number number JL3T-6A051-AB. These parts were sold as accessories for certain 2023-2026 Ford vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L Modular Power Cylinder (MPC) engine. The engine block heater may overheat when the vehicle is parked with the block heater plugged in.
Consequence
An overheated engine block heater increases the risk of a fire.
Corrective action
Dealers will replace the block heater element and inspect the electrical cord, replacing it if necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 20, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SA6.
